Darren Aronofsky to slum it up for WOLVERINE 2??

Apparently lil darren REALLY wants to make a comic book film.  After getting his indie hopes up for Superman, the director of such contemporary classics, THE FOUNTAIN and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM has appealed to the Marvel boys that HE is the best man for the job.

THE CHOPPAH really doesn’t know how to approach this.  He like WOLVERINE and he likes Aronofsky, but he doesn’t think the two should even come close to being in the same sentence together, let alone on the same set.  Aronofsky is a sure bet to get a few nominations this year for BLACK SWAN and he should snag the Oscar just for getting Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman in the same scene!  Thanks.  But does he want to follow it up with as a YES MAN to FOX with this film?  Lest we forget that the first film was overrun with production problems, numerous reshoots, divas in front of the camera, allegations of the director being fired…I really dont see how this one is gonna change.

Your thoughts–CHOP AWAY!

I doubt he’ll do it. They hired indie darling Gavin Hood to do Wolverine after his first studio picture, Rendition, and we all remember how that turned out. Either Fox gave Hood NO creative control whatsoever, or Hood was given very limited powers. Or he had terrible ideas for the movie.

Either way, with Fox’s track record, I doubt Aronofsky will bite unless they give him the same level of control WB gave Nolan.
